some details about hot fused/heat seal/welded seams/thermo-bonded
It is more and more people like padded jackets were made with welded seams, because it is quite different with quilting seams, moreover, welded seams are more waterproof and windproof as there is not needle holes like stitching quilting seams. But there are some details we need to consern in advance, some workmanships are different which makes fabric materials and filling materials need to meet specific requirements.
First, regarding the pattern of hot fused/heat seal/welded seams/thermo-bonded, we need to consider the space between hot fused when we are designing it. We need the space is big enough to wadded filling into channel by machine, fillings can't be wadded into channel if the space of channel is too small.
Second, regarding the filling materials, only can be down or cotton figurine(can't be piece cotton). Because this kinds of hot fused seams need to be made before filling padded materials.
Third, not all of fabric materials are suitable to make into thermo-bonded seams. The channel can't be fixed strongly if the fibres are too thin, such the thickness of fibres is under 40D.
I would like to share some pattern with you as below:
Please note there is an official name for this workmanship, the common name for it such as hot fused/heat seal/welded seams/thermo-bonded.
